YogaWalks (2023)

City walk. Outdoor yoga. Community experience. Participatory performance. Slowing down. Exhale.

“In the beginning, I was afraid that it would be very frustrating to do yoga in an urban public space. But standing on that big bridge in different poses gave me strength and power.”

“To go for an urban walk/yoga in a public space and remain silent for 2 hours, creates so much space in my mind, being fully in the present moment comes naturally.”

“At the beginning of the walk to do yoga in that very noisy and busy urban setting proved to be counterproductive and very grounding.”

YogaWalks is a community experience and participatory performance, reflecting on the built environment without words. During the silent walk, we walk together, stopping along the way and flowing through the city-inspired yoga poses to discover together the little details that we can easily overlook in our daily rush. Moving lightly, we explore our relationship with ourselves, each other and our environment. We see the city from a new perspective, finding ourselves in places we hadn’t noticed before. Our breathing and movement become more and more synchronized.

Participants are invited to look for stillness in movement, for inner silence in the noise of a waking or quieting city, through dance, yoga and introspection.

The last stop of the walk will be a picnic with healthy snacks to share feedbacks about the experience.
